PERFORMING ARTS
Quenching the need for traditional to cutting edge entertainment, Seattle has it all. Whether you are looking for an intimate performance venue or a festival on a grand scale, you’ll find it here. Seattle is the birthplace of grunge, but don’t let that fool you- we also are home to an internationally-acclaimed 100-year-old symphony orchestra and more theatres than any comparably sized city. Teatro ZinZanni is a big night out unlike any other, a three-hour whirlwind of cirque, comedy and cabaret all served up with a five-course feast designed by celebrated Northwest chef Tom Douglas. From the Seattle Symphony to hot Broadway musicals, to the Pacific Northwest Ballet- let Seattle entertain you!!

VISUAL ARTS

With over 190 galleries in the Seattle area alone, exhibits of every kind are at your fingertips. Whether you are interested in framed art, sculpture, jewelry, contemporary animation, pottery, antiques, or handcrafted furniture- Seattle is the canvas for you. Even if you don’t set foot in a gallery, you will be awestruck by the amount of public art in your hotel, restaurants, parks and on street corners. If architecture is your thing, you certainly will not be left out. The new Seattle Public Library designed by Rem Koolhaas is just one building you shouldn’t miss.

Seattle is also the mecca for glass artists and boasts more hot shops in this region that anywhere else in the world, including Murano, Italy where the art of glass blowing began. You will find breathtaking displays from famous glass artists in your hotel, the park down the street, in live demonstration studios and large galleries. Don’t miss the Museum of Glass in Tacoma and adjacent Bridge of Glass, and over 75,000 feet of exhibit space.

MUSEUMS

With something for everyone, the Seattle area is home to an excellent selection of art, historical, scientific and special interest museums. The fascinating Museum of Flight will take you through the history of aviation and allow you to see and experience things you never have before. At Experience Music Project you can learn to play an instrument, visit the Jimi Hendrix exhibit or take a walk through the history of popular music. Stop by the Museum of History and Industry or go in search of the Native American, Asian and Scandinavian contributions to the Pacific Northwest at a handful of other museums. The Science Fiction Museum & Hall of Fame is an interactive, out-of-this-world experience. Many of these museums are kid-friendly and offer hands-on activities for kids and adults alike! Whether it is antique trains, police exhibits, bonsai trees or historic naval ships, you’ll find it in Seattle.

HERITAGE & HISTORY

The city of Seattle celebrates its rich historical heritage in a variety of ways. Explore the original culture of the Northwest by viewing Native American art at the Stonington Gallery or the Suquamish Museum, or attend a traditional powwow at the Daybreak Star Indian Cultural Center. You can also learn about the significant Asian and Scandinavian contributions to this region by visiting local gems such as the Wing Luke Asian Museum or the Nordic Heritage Museum. The city’s historic Pioneer Square neighborhood features classic architecture and is home to the Underground Tour, where you can travel along subterranean walkways, past old storefronts, and explore the city as it was before the Great Fire in 1889. And of course no trip to Seattle is complete without a stop at Pike Place Market, one of our most famous landmarks, and a beloved destination for residents and visitors alike.
